evaluating actions i will take when planning the brochure (working to a brief)
I started to request/collect a range of brochures to analyse and take ideas for the production of my brochure. I sent a letter to a company but as this was unsuccessful I had to collect brochures. I did this by walking into stores or booking appointments for IKEA to get a brochure however this was unsuccessful as I got a catalogue, however i could still use this to help me with my work.
I have used several brochures within my planning; I used a Vodafone brochure where I looked at the layout of the pages to advertise a new mobile phone and decided to consider this in my work. I also looked at anAvon brochure to analyse the front cover as I needed a different ideas on how to display a product to advertise. I have also used first impressions brochure for different ideas. This inspired me as it gave me ideas to keep the brochure simple but professional.
I researched the hardware and software available to me. I sent an email to an I.C.T technician to find out the hardware and software available to me within the academy. This meant that I could look into the hardware and software within the academy and find out which hardware and software I’m comfortable with.
I have chosen a house style which I will keep consistent throughout the publishing task. I feel sticking to a house style is important as it looks more professional.
To get my layout for my design I looked at brochures as well as coming up with some of my own ideas as I believe that I will be able to connect more to the task as well as be able to offer something different to the customer.
In the initial planning process of the fornt cover I spoke to Mr Lowe (Media Teacher) about the layout of the brochure to see if he could give me any ideas. He told me that i should look at magazines aswell as brochures as this may give me more ideas on how to design the front cover of my brochure.
