Negotiating the brief - meeting one (21/10/2010)

I atteneded a meeting in my class. We were all split up into groups. My group included: james d, carl, andrew and myself.  A guest visitor my bowles was also invited to the meeting.

In my opinion my performance in this meeting was excelent as i got a negotiation started with Mr chatton. I then carried out my negotiation and got an extra space for the price list that we had started the negotiation about. I believe that my performance was more sucsessful than others as i had a plan and i knew exactly what i wanted aswell as setting a high benchmark for the pages so i could afford to be knocked down.

In my opinion my groups performance was good as they helped me deciding on what topic i should negotiate, however my group did not help during the negotiation process which could have been a problem for most however i believe that my bargaining power is at a level where i didnt need to have the additional support.  Obviously this is the first negotiation meeting of many that we will have meaning that the rest of people in my group didnt really do thier job properly or effectivly. To support the whole class i took a camera and filmed the majority of the meeting but when it got to my turn to speak i handed over the camera to elliot who took on the job of filming the last group which was mine. elliot did this without complaining which i am greatful for. This was my second time filming so this did not develop my skills with the camera it just reinforced my knowlage. however elliot developed his skills using the camera during the meeting. As far as i am aware this is the first time elliot had done something like this.

My feedback to my fellow class mates in the groups would be to go into the meeting fully prepared with a clear idea of what they would like as i believe that they did not have a clear vision of what they wanted before the meeting. i also feel that my fellow classmates should have worked together more and gave themselves a bigger negotiation so that them and mr chatton could haggle and come to an agreement. overall i believe that all groups could do with some improvement and im sure that the other groups know what they need to cover.

negotiation.

I asked for an additional page within the brochure for the price list to follow over onto. i first pushed for 3 pages to advertise. i did this beacuse the whole point of this was to negotiate the brief. we then discussed that an additional 3 pages would cost, so we then decided a double sided loose leaf price list page would be a better option. i did not get exactly what i would have hoped however we came to an agreement and we are both happy with.
mr bowels who was sitting in on our negotiation meeting said that i had negotiated well to get the results i wanted.
